Vivonne is in the geographical and historical region of Poitou Charentes on the main road RN 10, south west of Poitiers.
Small town atop a rocky ledge, Vivonne is at the junction of the Vonne, Palais and Clain rivers the latter dividing itself in a number of arms meandering around green meadows and even a small fresh water "beach type" site.
